Nyborg Church of Our Lady

Historical church from 1388

At Nyborg Church, a historical church from 1388, it was time a few years ago to find a new lighting solution for the church’s many chandeliers and lamps. In fact, the need for a total of 840 bulbs was identified for the 17 chandeliers, but there was much uncertainty about whether LED lights, rather than the classic incandescent bulbs, could be a good solution.

Facts

We had our reservations about changing to LED, fearing too much of a bright light that would disrupt the harmonious and religious atmosphere. But we also knew that we had to change to LED, as the incandescent bulbs would eventually phase out

This is where Danlamp stepped in

Nyborg Church had tried several different suppliers, but never found a fully satisfactory lighting solution. Therefore, in collaboration with Nyborg El, Danlamp conducted a trial setup to see it in practice.

The process and transition from ordinary incandescent bulbs to LED took quite some time, primarily due to the significant change in wiring needed to accommodate a different lighting format.

Once the new lighting was in place, satisfaction among the church’s staff and guests quickly became apparent.

We are very satisfied. The color in the LED bulbs perfectly matches the desired one, and the cozy church atmosphere is preserved. So the entire transition has been worth it.

Strong economic incentives

Danlamp has a history dating back to 1931, maintaining a high level of quality. Moreover, they have accumulated a wealth of church projects over the years. Therefore, they were ready to take on the task at Nyborg Church from one day to the next. According to verger Kurt Kristensen, there have been many positive impacts afterward: “First and foremost, we recouped the LED investment in 2-3 years, including all the additional electrical work associated with it. We are very pleased that it happened so quickly.” One of the reasons for the rapid profitability is the minimized power consumption. Kurt Kristensen also points out that it was about making a greener and more sustainable transition – hence moving away from the dying incandescent bulbs.

Danlamp Church Candle LED has simply lived up to our expectations. Annual power consumption has dropped by well over 90 percent, resulting in significant cost savings.

The collaboration can rightfully continue

According to the verger at Nyborg Church, this is not the last time Danlamp will provide solutions for them. The LED solution for the many chandeliers in the church was a challenging project to solve, but since the result has been so satisfactory, there will be many incentives to continue the collaboration with Danlamp in the future.

We have received what I would call a one-to-one solution in terms of maintaining the right atmosphere and light in the church. Considering that we have also saved money and received professional guidance along the way, we couldn't ask for more. We have only received positive feedback from the staff and churchgoers since then, so it seems that the solution has met expectations.
