Creating ambiance for over 50 years
Until 1972, international maritime regulations stipulated that ships over 50 meters should use navigation lamps of either 13 or 26 candelas. We manufactured these bulbs at our factory in Aabenraa, and our Navigation lamps became the standard on the world’s oceans.
Post-1972, when the demand for stronger light in ship lanterns arose, our old Navigation lamps with E27 bases continued to find their way into many homes—especially in Norway. Their robust construction, long lifespan, and beautiful light made them a popular choice for residential lighting.
In the early 1980s, we transformed the product from a Navigation lamp to a decorative bulb, rebranding it as 33W and 60W. What was previously only available as a tubular bulb was now also produced in a standard glass envelope, known as an Exterior lamp or, in Norway and Sweden, as a Lyktlampa.
Energy savings and a focus on warmth and coziness
In 2016, as technology evolved and the demand for energy-efficient solutions increased, we decided to create an LED version of our beloved Exterior bulb. It was crucial for us that the new bulbs were not just modern but also retained the authentic charm and emitted light exactly like the original incandescent bulbs. We introduced a 2.5W and a 4W LED bulb as replacements for the old 33W and 60W incandescent bulbs. For outdoor lighting, we also developed a 4.5W LED bulb that illuminates 40% more than the 4W.
Our LED bulbs as decorative lighting immediately gained popularity. The prevailing trend revealed that many desired more than just energy efficiency; they wanted a warm and golden light. Therefore, in 2018, we launched a variant with golden glass and a color temperature of 2000 kelvin, creating an atmosphere of coziness and warmth.
Today, our exterior bulbs are not just a source of light; they represent an iconic piece of design and a commitment to sustainable lighting. We continue to shape moods and illuminate homes worldwide, and our journey to create the right light remains as brilliant as our light sources.
We believe that the right light makes people happier.
